Satellite Communications

What is a VSAT system?

VSAT is a short form for a Very Small Aperture Terminal. It is principally a two-way satellite ground station with a less than 3 meters (most of them are about 0.75 m to 1.8 m) antenna. These VSATs' chief job is accessing the satellites in the geosynchronous orbit and transmitting data from terminals in earth to other terminals and hubs.

They will over and over again transmit narrowband data, as the transactions of credit cards, polling, RFID (radio frequency identification) data, and SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), or broadband data, such as satellite Internet, VoIP, and videos. However, the VSAT technology is also used for various types of communications.

The use of VSAT systems is on the increase throughout the world as a way of providing better connectivity to the internet or using it as private satellite communications networks for outsized organizations.

More than ever in the third world, where there are untrustworthy cable networks, the sales of VSAT systems are showing large growth rates. Depending on bandwidth requirement (data speed and/or communications channels), VSAT systems can be moderately small (1.2 to 2.4 meter antenna) and easily installed. By linking VSAT terminals to larger hub stations (or land earth stations), a wireless network can be established for fairly low down expenses.

How does a VSAT work?

A VSAT is a small fixed or mobile earth station which provides a communication link to a satellite which can handle data traffic. Depending on which satellite is used, the signal will be transmitted to a particular earth station with a direct link to an Internet backbone. This means that even in countries which have no direct access to these backbones (like many African countries), with system a one-stop (one hop in technical terms) connection to the main data routes of the Internet can be established.

VSAT systems offer value-added satellite-based services capable of supporting the Internet, data, LAN, voice/fax communications, and can provide powerful, dependable, private and public network communications solutions. A VSAT has certain clear advantages over leased lines and other wireless communications media, as it is less sensitive to physical damages like cable breakages etc.

What is VSAT future application?

Moving forward in technology has radically enhanced the price/performance equation of FSS (Fixed Service Satellite) over the earlier period. Fresh VSAT are near-term online by means of Ka band technology that guarantee advanced BW charge for minor costs.

FSS satellite systems currently in orbit have a gigantic capacity with a relatively low price structure. FSS satellite systems provide various applications for subscribers, including:

  • Telephony and fax
  • elevision
  • High speed data communication services
  • Internet access
  • Satellite News Gathering (SNG)
  • Digital Audio Broadcasting (DAB) and others

These systems are valid for providing a mixture of high-quality services for the reason that they create well-organized communication systems, both for residential and business users

What kind of companies uses VSAT systems?

Car dealerships, gas stations, lottery systems, banks, insurance companies, drug stores, general stores, supermarkets, healthcare companies, manufacturers, couriers, hotel chains, car rental businesses, food manufacturers, heavy industries, mines, electrical utilities, oil and gas pipelines, energy production and exploration, timber companies, plantations, various government departments and agencies ....... any others you can think.

Why buy a VSAT system from Xceltra?

The VSAT systems which we sell are designed to accommodate our customer's requirements in size, operational capability and coverage areas. These systems get rid of the user's dependence on cable providers, thus security, trustworthiness and capacity can be improved, at the same time as operation costs can be reduced.

We take enormous care in the direction of ensuring that our VSAT systems are tremendously elastic and user-friendly. The systems can be configured to integrate seamlessly to the level the user requires. This can take the form of a solution that would take account of interfacing with existing components of local and remote networks, to complete end-to-end 'turn key' solutions.

Our systems are intended to be well-matched with technological advances, creation of outlook system development with no trouble reasonable as communications technology progresses. As we sell a mixture of VSAT systems which can connect to several satellites which cover the Middle East and Africa region, we can offer our customers a range of options, as well in pricing as connection types.
